  6. Minutes of the Router Requirement Check List BOF (rreqlist)
  7.  
  8. The need for preparing such a checklist by an IETF working group was
  9. acknowledged.  This will help prospective buyers of routers.
  10.  
  11. In addition, it was decided that separate checklists were in order to
  12. identify the functionality sought in the router.  [ Exterior,Interior (
  13. Dumb, Smart,Big,Small) Leaf-node etc.].  The checklists will extract RFC
  14. Compliance features from the replacement for RFC 1009 (Requirement for
  15. IP Routers, Philip Almquist,Editor).  A mailing list (rrcl@cerf.net,
  16. rrcl-request@cerf.net) was created for this purpose.

  18. The BOF (to be turned into a working group) will meet at the San Diego
  19. IETF to finalize the checklists.  Meanwhile, discussions will commence
  20. on the mailing list.
